format c: hard drive

just upgraded from win98 to xp home edition. I want to
clear the hard drive of all info so I can give the
computer away. What is best way to do this? thank you.

A Clean Installation is the best way:

If Windows XP is an upgrade you must transfer Windows XP and the
qualifying product, Windows 98 in this case, since both are tied to
the computer.

Boot from a DOS floppy and reformat the drives. If its NTFS then run FDISK
to remove the non-DOS partition first.
