Form fields keep moving when I tab to the next one in MS Wdord

When using a MS Word template (.dot) that has Form Fields, When I type in
text into one form field, it causes the text and the next form field to move
out of position much the same as regular text does when you tab with the
cursor located in the middle of a paragraph.
Is there some way to prevent this from happening, possibly by locking the
next form field into place so that the cursor will tab into the next form
field??
Beats me!!

Insert a table, turn off its borders, set its column width to Fixed,
and set its row heights to Exact values. Insert each form field in a
separate cell.
