Form field-- Filename

Is there a method for placing the filename in the footer of a document and
the filename automatically updates if the file is renamed?? Currently we use
form field but if filename changes the form field does not update.

I hope you mean a "FileName field" (from the Header/Footer toolbar or the
Insert > Field dialog) and not a "form field" (from the Forms toolbar).

In Word 2002 and 2003, the FileName field doesn't update automatically. The
article at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=832897 shows how to use a
macro to force the field to update each time you open the file.

If you need to have the field show the correct result immediately when you
use the File > Save As command to change the name of the document, get the
macro code from the last step at
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/File_Name_And_Path.htm.
