forgot to tell you about rebooting pro blem

Sorry, I forgot to tell you I tried to uninstall the
Norton Internet Security 2002 program but I can't add or
remove programs in Safe mode.
I also tried last good configuration, cleared my start up
programs.

If you are just try to remove Norton, while in safe mode set the Norton
service to disabled. Is that the last thing you did before this started
happening ?
