Foreign characters in email address: Operation failed.

I'm trying to (using Outlook 2000SR) send an email to someone with Turkish
characters in their address but it keeps generating the error 'Operation
Failed'.

The address is something like Pölü[email protected]

I've tried sending the email with vowels instead of the characters in
question but it (somewhat obviously) came back as undeliverable.

The international settings appear to be okay (Western ISO, sending and
recieving)

Thanks in advance

When you receive an e-mail from that address can you reply without issues?
Do you have Outlook 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed with additional
hotfixes?

Thanks for getting back so quickly.
Regarding what you asked...

Cannot reply to the e-mail after recieved.
SP3 is already installed.
(And i'm still puzzled ;-))

What mail account type are you using?
Tried it with a clean mail profile already?

Hi
Using an Exchange account.
I've tried sending to the same recipient from a colleagues machine also, but
no joy, still 'Operation Failed' error generated.

Mmm ??

I currently don't have access to an Outlook 2000 machine with Exchange
access. It could very well be a limitation of Outlook 2000. If security
settings allows you to do it you might want to try it with settings up a
POP3 account with a SMTP server outside of your domain.
