Force Client PC to authetucated on particulat DC

Hi there,

My company network have multi subnets and multi DC
(windows 2000 domain - Windows 2000 Server and Windows
2003 Server).

I use AD Sites and Services to create few sites and link
few subnets to 1 DC.

I found out that the client login to the domain is slow.
And I check the client PC - some autheticated through the
DC that no belong the its subnet.

Can I force clients PC to autheticated through particular
DC to speed up the login process? Cause some very slow (up
to 5 mimutes or more)!

Thanks
Chai

Chai this can be a possible DNS problem. Make sure you can ping the AD
domain name by FQDN and get response from a Domain Controller like ping
company.com. Dose a Global Catalog Server existing in each site?

Hi Christoffer Andersson,

Thank you for your reply.

I can ping the full domain name - no problems!

I have 3 branches - 2 branch only got 1 DC with mutliple
NICs - the client PCs login is fast - less than 1 minutes.

Only the HQ - 3 DCs with single NICs for Authetication.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Chai

Hi Chai. I have do get a list of your Site Design?. Make sure that each site
contains at least one Domain Controller and at lest one Global Catalog
Server.

Hi Christoffer Andersson,

Thanks for the reply.

I found out the problem - is DNS record. My DC got 3 NICs.
When client PC query the DC, the DNS return different IP
address cause it slow down.

It is possible to force the DNS to return only 1 IP
address cause I only permit the client PC to access 1 of
the 3 NIC of the DC only.

Thanks

Chai
