Force apps not to use "all users" directory?

Is there any way to force programs to use 'c:\documents and
settings\dan\start menu' instead of 'c:\documents and settings\all
users\start menu' when installing software? My machine is a single
user machine - and will never ever require multiple logon accounts. I
like to keep my programs menu quite tidy and catagoried. The best way
of doing this is to browse to 'c:\documents and settings\dan\start
menu', and move stuff around in there. Unfortunately, half of my
programs are in the 'all users' directory.

Cheers,
Dan.

ps. I know that if I manually move stuff around, program's uninstall
won't remove the start menu icons - before anyone mentions it! ;o)

Why bother?
Simply reorder your apps in the Start/Programs menu.
And depending what/where you are 'moving stuff' the apps may not function
correctly since there are many pointers in the registry to the origonal
location.

Because the drag and drop functionality in the programs menu seems very
tempermental (see my other thread I started today).

Whether a program is installed for a specific user or all users is
dependent on the specific install program. Some offer options and others
do not. If they don't, there's nothing you can do to influence their
behavior other than to move things arounf after the fact. Moving
shortcuts from the "all users" start menu to a specific user's start menu
has always worked for me.
