for local admin password (after leaving domain to workgroup)

James

I'm sure I'm not the first to make this dumb mistake:
I usually log on with my domain password and have admin
rights to my computer. I decided to disconnect from the
domain and join a workgroup. After changing form domain
to workgroup (and rebooting) I can now only enter a user
name and password. Unfortunately I do not remember the
admin password.

Silly me for thinking I could log back on with my domain
name and password and stupid me for not remembering the
local admin password.

Anyway, I installed another copy of windows xp pro (also
know as a parallel install) and do have access to my
files. I was just hoping that someone knows of a way to
get the admin password back or how I can make the original
installation connect back to the domain so I can logon on
and then change the local admin password.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Can you log onto the desktop? If so, all you should need to do is right
click on <My Computer> on the desktop and select <Properties> on the
sub-menu--this will open the 'System Properties' window. For a Windows 2000
machine, select the <Network Identification> tab (or <Computer Name> for
XP). Then just select <Change> button--this will open another window--just
enter your computer name and your domain name--you'll need to supply your
domain administrator login.

Best regards,

Todd

Hi Todd,

Nope, I can't logon at all. I believe the only local user
account was Administrator

Thanks.
