footnotes

In the middle of project I noticed that suddenly there's a tremendous amount
of space between the footnote separator and the footnotes themselves. How can
get rid of this spacing? Also if i want to begin new footnotes in a new
section but within the same document what would be the procedure.

In Normal view, View | Footnotes. In the Footnote pane, click on the arrow
in the list box and choose Footnote Separator. Chances are it has acquired a
style or formatting that includes a lot of Space After. Restore Normal style
or remove the Space After.

I'm not sure what your second question means. Do you mean you want to
restart numbering in each section? That is one of your choices in the
Footnote and Endnote dialog.
