footer question

i have a 13 page document that i would like to put a footer on each page
indicating the last time i made a change to that page but when i put the
footer in it puts the same footer on every page is there a way to put
one date on one page and another date on another page and so on?

In order to have different footers on each page one must insert a New Page
Section Break before each page and click on Same As Previous. You can then
view the footer and change it in any way you like.

You will need to insert a Section break, Next Page at the bottom of each page
and, using the header/footer toolbar unclick the Link to previous button.

Rather than put it in the footer, consider putting it in a text box anchored
to the paragraph that you changed.

I recommend doing this because otherwise your document is going to become
very difficult to edit. It should be possible to place the textbox in the
space used for the footer if that is needed. However, you keep it in the
body rather than in the header/footer. Headers and footers are, by
definition, something that does not just appear on one page.

An alternative is if you type the modified date at the end of each
paragraph, you could use a StyleRef field in your footer. Note, though, that
this will pick up information from either the first (default) or last
intance of the style on the page.
