Foot note Place holder in the master

Carly

Is there a way to add an editable text box into the
master?
We would like to put a footnote box into the master, to
keep the place holder, with the ability to have different
text in each footnote on each slide.

Thanks,
Carly

At this time (we have hope for future versions of PPT), you cannot add
editable text boxes to the Master slides beyond those provided.

Thanks Troy,

Do you just copy and paste your footnotes from slide to
slide? My client is trying to get me to put this in the
master because she doesn't like copying and pasteing. Do
you have another method?

Thanks again,
Carly

There are many ways to accomplish adding a text box (in the same place, same
formatting, etc) using VBA. This is not my area of expertise, if you would
like to pursue post another question about how to add text box to all slides
with VBA.

Otherwise, copy and paste is the easiest and most common solution.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]
[TOP ISSUE - Are you having difficulty opening presentations in PPT 2003
that you just created in PPT 2003? -

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the capability of creating/adding custom
placeholders to the slide master and/or creating/adding customer slide
layouts which would take advantage of such custom placeholders. However,
each slide can have unique footer text (perhaps your footnotes) which uses
the formatting of the existing "Footer Area" placeholder on the Slide
Master.

You can edit the footer (footnote) text for each slide using the "View ->
Header and Footer" command.

1) Go to slide you want to add/change footnote/footer
2) View -> Header and Footer
3) Check the "Footer" option and enter your footnote/footer text
4) Click "Apply" to apply the changes only to the current/selected slide
(not to the entire presentation)

Of course, if you (or anyone else reading this message) feel strongly that
some kind feature for creating custom placeholders and/or slide layouts
should be a built-in feature in PowerPoint, don't forget to send your
feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are only
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
