Fonts not appearing properly on report...

Scott McBride

Hi,

I have several reports that were developed on a particular
machine in an office and then propogated to other
machines. Each machine has the particular font installed,
but on some machines when the report is printed, it prints
in a Times Roman instead of Boulder. When I go into these
individual machines and attempt to update the locally,
none of the fonts seem to work properly aside from things
like Arial, Times Roman.

I've checked around on the support site and haven't been
able to find anything. Has anyone else experienced
something like this in the past, and if so what sort of
solution was there?

Thanks,

Do these machines all have the same printer installed? Do some of those
printers have their options set to substitute printer fonts for TrueType
fonts? What happens if you print a Word document that uses this
particular font, Boulder, on one of those machines?

Sorry that my suggestion about the fonts is not the solution. I don't know
of any other ideas...!

I think that your suggestion had merit. Here is another
strange thing. I can create a new report using the Bolder
font and it seems to print out alright. I'm not quite
sure what to make of this. Perhaps create an entirely new
report. I compacted and repaired the database. Obviously
there is something else going on here...

Here is something else that I just noticed (or failed to
think about before...) The textbox that I'm using has the
Vertical property set to Yes. I was just testing putting
a new textbox on the report and the font was fine. As
soon as I flipped the property, the font changed... Does
this make any sense?

It's possible that the specific font doesn't support a nonhorizontal
alignment? Try it with a different font that you know works in vertical
format and see if that one works.

But this font does support the non-horizontal alignment as
it is working this way on several machines. And I was
able to go into Word and flip a textbox with text in this
font and all was well... It is just getting more and more
strange.

It may be that that form or report is corrupted. Try importing all the
controls into a new form or report, and then try it.

I will give that a try. It seems to be the only option
left at this point in time. Perhaps I will uncover
something else.

Your assistance was greatly appreciated.

Take care.
