Font Size - Screen OK - Print Too Large

I am using Windows 2000 with XP Home SP2 and HP Laserjet 1012. I also use a
20" Dell LCD and the most comfortable Outlook setting for screen fonts is 12
point Verdana. Trouble is my emails also print at 12 point which is a
little too large. 10 point would be better for printing.

So, how do I decouple screen font size from print font size? I have looked
at all sorts of setting but can't figure how to do this one.

Just tried a little experiment. I printed the same message in Outlook and
Outlook Express. The Outlook Express print looked "normal" at about 10
point while the Outlook print was oversized at least 12 point.

Did you ever get a solution? I have an even worse problem with XP. My outlook
express mail prints at at least a 14 font. It shows in print preview but I
can't find a way to fix it.

Did anyone find a resolution to this?
Using Microsoft Outlook Express: All of a sudden the font size in my printed
emails is 14 regardless how I change the font size in: Tools > Options > Read
(tab) > Font. Also tried using the View > Text size. These just affect the
display size of the fonts on the monitor, not the printing font size.

I have printed emails on 3 different printers-same problem.
I have printed text from other applications - no problem.

No Paul; your note was the first I've heard back. It sounds like we have
exactly the same problem.

I found out the solution: Outlook Express does not have its own printer
driver.....it uses INternet Explorer. Set the print size in IE (View > Text
size) to control how big Outlook Express prints fonts.

I found a solution also on microsoft Technet. On bott Outlook Express and
IE, I had to set the fonts to smallest, close them, re-open them and set the
fonts back to meduim. It's something about losing the link with the printer
driver.
