Font size on monitor

My co-user of this fairly new Dell desktop with Windows XP shut it all the
way down last night. When I turned it on this morning, everything was
smaller--typefaces, even cards in the solitaire game were miniturized! What
happened? And how do we fix it?
 
See, if the Screen Area has changed to larger size. To check this out:

1. Right-Click on Desktop, choose Properties
2. Click the "Settings" tab.
3. Set the "Screen Resoultion" according to your needs.
