I created a 1 cell table and typed text into it. I added shadow. The
background color of the cell is yellow. The shadow is now white, not grey.
Is there anyway to fix this?

Thanks.

version of Word?

Is there a difference between PrintPreview and the Printout, or between
different views? Or is it simply that the shadow is white in a yellow
cell no matter where you look?

It is the same in normal and preview modes, as well as in print.

OK, I see what you're describing.

Word is deciding that the (cell) shading is too dark for a grey shadow.
The only sensible way I can see to get gray shading is by lightening up
the yellow enough.

Word also switches the automatic font color from black to white when you
hit a dark threshold (i.a., if you take black or a dark gray as the cell
shading). This works as designed, I presume.

Wow. How cool -- but definitely nonintuitive -- is that?

Thank you so much!
