Font is changing when setting up styles

I am currently setting up a Word template.

When I try to make some styles Arial, they are automatically changing to
Helvetica.

In the Reveal Formatting box, I go to change the font and it either keeps
reverting to Helvetica or when I change it to Arial in the Modify Style
dialogue box, it shows as Arial Bold in the Reveal Formatting box.

Does anyone have any ideas??

I'm working in Word 2003.
 
Font formatting could be applied as direct formatting to text. After
you've modified the style, select the text and press Ctrl+SpaceBar;
this removes any font formatting not in style.
