I just restored my Compaq laptop with Win 2000 Pro
and all is fine except for one problem. When I open the
the fonts folder from the control panel, I can see the
100+ fonts installed. When I click on the file menu to
add more, the install fonts choice is not there. It is
just a normal window with the new command (folder, shortcut,
image, wave sound,etc..) and then the close command.
I have tried rebooting ect.. to no avail.
Compaq Armada M700 with 2000 Pro, 20GB HD, 512K Mem.
Everything else works fine. Anybody have any ideas?

Selet the fonts folder and righ-click choose properties. Then uncheck the read-only and click apply. Say OK and close out. Then do the same thing again only this time check the read-only if it is still clear. There are other fixes for this issue but try the simplest one first.

Can always search in the Knowledge vase at Microsoft under "Install fonts" w/o the quotes.

See http://www.jsiinc.com/suba/tip0200/rh0267.htm for a possible fix.
