Font - Character Spacing

B

Beth

I need an explanation of the difference between scale and spacing on the font
tab and when kerning comes into play. Thank you. (I'm using Word 2007.)

Character spacing affects the distance between characters, putting them
closer together or farther apart. Scaling, on the other hand, makes the text
bigger or smaller, distorting the characters themselves. See the "Change the
spaces between text" help topic.

Kerning adjusts the distance between certain character combinations, for a
better look (and possibly also to make the text more readable).
