Followup Flag on messages

I am marking certain emails received for followup within
next few days.

Is it possible to get reminder or alert popup out of such
flagging on messages ?

yes, if you set a reminder on them. Note that reminders only fire in the
default folders - you'll need to use a 3rd party program from
www.slovaktech.com
