Follow-Up Flags Not Working

Outlook 2003/XP

I cannot get this user's follow-up flags to work. He has no rules. The
messages reside in his inbox. They were not moved. I have researched high
and low and can't figure out why they don't work.

He doesn't have time for me to run a "detect and repair" and frankly I doubt
that will even work.

He will call me first thing in the am expecting a fix..anyone??

what exactly doesn't work? can you set them? does only the reminder part
fail?

When you are in the inbox you take an item..right-click..and choose
"followup" "red flag"..nothing happens.I just read that if there is an
ongoing back and forth conversation you cannot flag this item. Not sure. Is
that true? What are the conditions items won't glag?

I am having the identical problem. My inbox is the default and the messages
I flag for followup do reside in there so according to what I have read, the
reminders should be displaying. But they don't. Any help would be appreciated.
