You have something in one of the many places that allow you to specify an
application/something to automatically startup that no longer exists.

Start --> RUN --> MSCONFIG --> Startup tab.

See anything there that shouldn't be there?
(Come back for more information on how to properly remove it if you don't
know how - and unchecking the box is *not* it.)

Do you mean the windows\system32 folder?

Microsoft knows why:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=170086

Before making registry changes, backup your registry with this popular
free and easy to use tool:

http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/

It could be a current malicious software infection or residue from one
that was removed.

Perform some scans for malicious software first, then fix any
remaining issues:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware
detection programs:

Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://malwarebytes.org/
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if desired.
