folders V files

Hi,
wonder if someone can help?
I have successfully set up my home network using a wireless router and
all seems fine.
However I wondered if you can share an individual file?
When I click on a folder the option to share is there on the left hand
menu, but if I click on an individual file it disappears.

Is it possible just to share a file only?

Windows can share disks and folders, but not individual files.
