Folders Stop Responding When Browsing

Hi i wonder if anyone can help me resolve a problem i am having. When i
browse through folders on my computer they stop responding. But firstly
i get a send error report pop-up, to send an error when there has not
yet been an errer, i.e. the folder is still operating. Then after the
next operation i perform, the folder usually stops responding.

Strange huh?

I may well reinstall windows to rectify if i get no suggestions of
similar problems that have been resolved.

What do you mean by "browse through folders"? Do you mean when you
open a folder in Explorer?
But firstly

You might turn off error reporting. XP has been around long enough so
that you're not really contributing anything.

It's probably not necessary to reinstall Windows.
