Folders open with search command

Forgive me, I'm not terribly computer savy and thus do not have the lingo...

My lovely husband was trying to change my folder icons and has screwed
up the computer. Now, my folders which contain other folders and files
instead of opening to the files page, open in a search format. This is
true of all the icons that are the plain file folders. When I right
click, I can see the search is the default (it is bolded and open is
below it and un-bolded). Help...how can I get my folders to open correctly?

Hi Laina,

Be gentle on your husband, because it is likely not his fault. This is a
common problem, and happens without user intervention. There is a quick and
