When I double click on a folder it opens up in search folder

This happens if you alter the 'File Folder' context entries in the 'File
Types' dialog.

Click [Start] [Run] and type "REGSVR32 /i SHELL32"

Hi,

I too faces the same problem and it got solved by your solution. But, now,
when I click a folder is an explorer window, the folder view goes off... (The
left side folder tree view..) Instead, the property type of window is
displayed.. Can we solve this?

Thanks,
Gops.

Dear Ramesh,

I am very sorry for not being clear. I wanted to add prompt to right click
menu for folders and hence I modified the Folder option in Windows XP. After
that, whenever i left clicked on a folder, a search window opened up! Your
solution fixed that problem. But now, the folder opens up in a new window.

I usually, work on the explorer style windows. ( Windows with folder tree on
the left sife ). When I click any folder in the folder/file view area,
instead of opening in the same explorer, a new window opens up.

I hope I am clear this time !!!

Hi Gops,

Open Regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Shell
-and-
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\Shell

Export both the keys and post the contents here.

Dear Ramesh,

In HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\Shell, the default was not set to none. I
modified to none and it works!!! And again thanks to you!! I got this info
from other thread where you have answered this query :)

Best Regards,
Gops.

Most welcome Gops. Infact the correct value would be (value not set) rather than "none" for HKCR\Folders\Shell
