My outlook 2003 mailbox is restricted in size (company using exchange 2003) I
want to be able to create a folder that is on my computers hard drive and
store useful messages in that folder (getting them off the mail server). Of
course this needs to be accessible through Outlook and behave exactly as
though it were still on the mail server.......is this possible?

Thanks

You certainly can. Create a PST of the items you wish to save off:
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm

Bear in mind that your network will not likely back up the contents of your
local harddrive so the PST is kept there at your own risk. You can copy it to
your "home" drive (if that is not restricted in size). Don't want to keep the
PST you use only in your "home" drive though, Microsoft doesn't support this
and it can lead to corruption of the file, which you don't want. You want to
keep the PST on your local harddrive and just copy it up to your "home" drive
as a backup, if that is allowed (this could depend on the size).

My best advice though is to discuss this with your System Admin to see what
their recommendation is. If you have restricted mailbox sizes (alot of places
do), they may have a policy in place or a way they can help you that works
well in your environment.
