Folder Views in non-Microsoft programs

I can get basic folders to default to a "List" view, but other programs keep
defaulting to an "Icon" view.

In particular, opening a folder with AutoCAD 2000, the view is always icons.
I may have up to 100 files in a folder, so it is annoying to have change the
view everytime I want to open a drawing.

It seems that all Microsoft programs will use the default settings, but all
non-Microsoft do not adhere to the defaults.

Any suggestions?

Assuming Autocad is using Common Dialogs then there are no settings.

Microsoft Office doesn't use Windows services that nearly all other programs use. They use custom menus, custom dialog boxes, custom everything.

This problem only occured when I upgraded to XP. I've ran AutoCAD 14 on
Win95, Win98, and WinME and I've ran AuotCAD 2000 on Win98, WinME, and now on
XP. Only XP does this.

In that case contact Autocad as it's nothing top do with windows. THERE ARE NO SAVED SETTINGS for FILE OPEN DIALOG BOXES (except the global settings which include Show/Hide hidden files, default sort order - icon style is not part of global settings).
