Folder view and location

I can't seem to get Windows XP Pro to remember the view I
set for different folders - I use details and icons
mostly - nor can I get it to remember the size and
location of folders on the desktop. In Windows 98SE this
was never a problem.
I'm using the "classic folders" option.
Anyone have any suggestions?

You may download and apply the following edit to increase the folder view
settings to remember the last 8000 folder views:

Increase folder view size limit to 8000 (line 2, left column)
