Folder Thumbnails

Whenever I open a folder containing photos in a program
(ie. Explorer, Power Point, etc.), I can't scroll down
the file list until Windows XP makes a thumbnail of every
photo. This happenes even if I'm in Detail Vew. Is
there a way around this or a way to turn off the
thumbnail feature?
 
I have the exact problem! Did you ever find
a solution? This bug is driving me mad!
