I wish to set up two computers, such that a folder(s) can be
automatically synchronized when the two machines detect each other's
presence on the same network. The synchronization should be such that
any files added to the specified linked directories on each machine
would be copied to the other, and any files in specified directories
updated on either machine would write over the similar files on the
other machine.
I see a variety of posts with various references and wish to be sure to
proceed correctly in my specific case. Can someone please advise on
the following:
1) Can this function be accomplished within Windows XP Pro alone
without supplemental software?
2) Do any/all machines synchronizing with each other have to run XP
Pro, as opposed to XP Home? What about Media Edition?
3) How is the best way to set up the above desired synchronization?
"Offline folders" sounds to me like one machine is the "server." This
is ok if file synchronization is a two-way process. Is this the best
method? Only method?
Thanks in advance for all assistance.
