Hello, can you help me out? I have several things going on..

First, when Windows XP starts and goes to my desktop, a folder keeps
popping up from explorer. How do I stop this?

Also, When windows boots, it constantly scans the hard drive for
consistancy, it says. How do I stop that?

Please fix your clock - you are posting from the future. Your IP tells me
you're in NJ, but your clock is set for US Mountain time. As this is the
default when setting up your system, I'm sure it's just an oversight, but
there are very good reasons why post dating is frowned upon: -

1) It's the Usenet equivalent of queue jumping. You think your problem is
more important than anyone else's, so you alter the clock so you can be at
the front. It's just as rude on Usenet as it is in real life.

2) It throws off archivers, such as Google. This post will be archived
later than the rest of the thread.

3) Some servers will delete post-dated messages as it's a tactic used by
spammers

4) You'll lose out on much assistance as many (myself included) won't
respond to post dated posts other than to tell the OP their settings are
incorrect.

It's your choice.

Some people can really have an attitude and offer help...it amazes me...and
these are the people who never do anything wrong.
