folder list and navigation bar

for some reason when i create new pages they don't show up in either the folder list or the navigation bar they are saving else where - i need to link up all the pages so that it starts to look like a website but can't get past this - any ideas? I am using windows xp!!

Did you actually create a Web first?

File/New Web
or are you just creating pages?

You have to create a Web first,then create new pages, Save, then add your pages in Navigation, then Publish to server.
