Folder I cannot delete

Guest

I sent some ringtones from my cell phone via bluetooth to my desktop to a
folder I called "ringtone" on my desktop. I then renamed it to "Ringtones".
When I reboot or restart the computer the folder "ringtone" magically
appears at the top left of my desktop. There is nothing in that folder.I have
tried to delete this folder many different ways and it keeps popping up on
reboot. I cannot get rid of it. Help!!!
Thanks

Hi

For a command prompt type the following from Start>Run

cmd

than change to the folder above the one you want to delete then type the
following command

del 'name of folder' - without the quotes.

For Safe Mode - restart your system then keep tapping the F8 key 'til you
see a screen that has Safe Mode as one of the options. Try deleting the
folder in Windows Explorer from there.

Downloading ringtones is a classic way to get malware/spyware.
I've seen and rectified this problem a few times recently.

Do you use any up to date anti spyware programs.
Two to recommend are SpyBot
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

This should take you to the English download page

And Ad Aware
http://www.lavasoft.com/

The Personal version is free for non commercial organisations.

Download and update these programs (Spybot can't be used until you have run
an update), and run them to see if there is any spyware that's stopping you
deleting the folder.

Each time I've been asked to fix a problem like this I have found that
Hotbar has been installed, and in some instances won't delete whilst running
in normal mode.
If this happens both Spybot and Ad Aware may ask if it can run on next start
up.
If you get this message choose one of them to start at next boot or boot to
safe mode and run the programs as normal.

Hope this helps
