I did a drag-and-drop of a back-up copy of my Favorites folder (large) onto
my existing Favorites folder (small) and they just disappeared?? They aren't
in the Recycle bin. Any idea how they can be rescued????

You sure there isn't a folder called Favourites inside your Favourites
folder (ie you didn't accidently copy your old favourites folder so that
it's now inside your existing favourites folder?)

Cheers
Ken

Just found it on my desktop!!! How do I combine it with my existing
Favorites?

Open the folder on your desktop. Then press Ctrl+A (this will select All
Files). Press Ctrl+C (copy).

Now open your existing favourites folder (c:\documents and
settings\yourUserName\favourites\) and press Ctrl+V (paste). You may have
some that are the same - you can choose to overwrite or not - it probably
won't make any difference.

Once you've verified that the shortcuts have copied properly (by opening
Internet Explorer, and checking your favourites menu), you can move the
folder on your desktop to wherever you want (eg Recycle Bin, or your backup
location).

Thanks Ken. Somehow when I did that I ended up with a Favorites folder
inside my Favorites folder. It wont let me drag since both folders names are
the same. How do I only end up with one folder? Thanks.

Please re-read my instructions.

a) OPEN the old favourites folder (so you can see all your existing
shortcuts - each is an individual file). Press Ctrl-A to select them all (or
you can do this from the Edit menu)

b) Press Ctrl-C to copy them all to the clipboard (or you can do this from
the Edit menu)

c) OPEN the current favourites folder. Press Ctrl-V to paste your favourites
into it.

DO NOT drag your old folder onto your existing folder, otherwise you'll have
the symptoms you currently have (one folder nested inside another).

Cheers
Ken
