Folder Details Revert Back To Default

Bik

A nice feature of XP is the ability to display extra details (View/Choose
Details or Rt click Headings) like Bit Rate, Duration, Date Created,
Attributes etc.

But, I have been unable to get the details I setup to remain. They keep
reverting back to default which is Name, Size, Date Modified & Type.

Is there anyway to make detail changes permanent preferably on a folder by
folder basis or even across all folders if that is the only way to do it?

Also tried changing the display features (View/ Customize) like thumbnails.
These remain for awhile but also start to revert back after several reboots.

Note: I am running XP Home Edition in the "Classic" start menu mode.

Thanks,
Bik

If you want to set it for all folders, open any folder, make the changes,
then go to Tools, Folder Options, click on the View tab and click on the
Apply To All Folders button.

Bik,

1. Open a folder. Tools > Folder Options > View > Reset All Folders.
2. Close the folder. Open and customize the folder again. View > Apply to All Folders

If this does not help, try this:

Method 2 : From Kelly

Windows [XP] remembers 400 folder settings. When that number is reached some settings aren't retained any longer. You can change this to 8000 by adding this edit to the registry.

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2):

Thanks, I tried both methods & they both work :)

Hopefully the registry change to allow 8000 folder options will give me the
flexibility to customize each folder's options & have them remain after
several reboots.
