FN keys operating incorrectly

I recently upgraded my ACER Travelmate 2200 laptop from XP to Vista, and
replaced my 40 gb hard drive with a 120 gb hitachi drive at the same time. .
Everything appears to work perfectly, except that now the keypad fn function
does not work properly, and the numbers 4-5-6 etc are displayed when U-I-O
etc are entered. the driver that is currently installed is named
LaunchManager and is version 1.0.0.0 . I could not find any upgraded drivers
at the ACER website, nor does vista tell me there is an issue. I could also
not find a website for Dritek systems (the maker of the driver) for an
upgrade. When I replace the hard drive that was originally removed from the
PC, everything works fine. It appears the computer does not recognize that
the keyboard is 88 keys and responds like it is 101. Any help would be
appreciated.

As far as the Keypad doing numbers, you have the Fn-Num Lock on (usually on
the F4 key) but if your Fn keys are all screwed up, it maybe mapped to a
different key combo. Try one at a time and if it doesn't work, tap the
combo again to put it back to the state it was in.

To solve the overall Fn mapped problem, go to Acer and download latest
drivers for your Model. It maybe not specifically mentioned as a Keyboard
driver.

The Acer web site mentions a file you need after upgrade to Vista

Vista update.zip

It has all BIOS and drivers needed

Even the UPDATE DRIVER via Device Manager, may find a better driver?

In the Control Panel set-up there should be a Keyboard icon, make sure an 88
Key is selected, otherwise it may be under Control Panel/Device Manager

Sounds like your keyboard is in Numlock mode. Is there a setting in your
bios to turn numlock off at boot?

No problem.

Vista has a different default from XP. XP used to force it off, Vista
leaves it the way BIOS sets it (by default on). If you don't find the
setting in your BIOS, let me know and I'll tell you how to set Vista to
force it off.
