Fly-by-night operation??

I purchased my system in Nov 2006. By Dec 2006 I had submitted my "free"
upgrade request with all appropriate information.

This is now May, 2007.

I've called, I've emailed, I've tried everything I know to get some level of
response.

Was the "upgrade site" just a front? Is it a farse as to the so-called free
upgrade?

The site used is: https://upgradeweb.moduslink.com/vista.

After finally able to talk to someone there, I was told that the warehouse
has plenty of Vista inventory. The version is Vista Business x64.

I think that this was just a ruse to obtain credit card information - but
not sure.

Is there anyone that can tell me if I'm just outt'a luck? The web site says
my order is valid.
 
"Moduslink" is legitimate - when you submitted your request you should have
received an E-mail confirmation which may have requested re-entering
information. No credit card information was necessasry ,
 
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, there have been many such
communique. I can provide a history of the communique, dating back to
January, 2007 (after initial order on 12/9/2006). All replies received from
the "organization(?)" has led me to believe that it is in fact a
"fly-by-night" type of operation.

Your reply has at least confirmed that the "organization(?)" exists. I was
very worried about the initial information needed to place the order (which
included cc# for the shipping & handling).

In order to find out what happened, I suppose I'm going to have to persue
other options.
 
Jim - afraid I cannot offer more help - I have a HP and Toshiba laptop which
were purchased with XP and were under the "free" Vista upgrade offer - have
received both Vista upgrades .
The HP pack also included a DVD with updated Vista utilites, BIOS and
applications that came with the laptop.

I'm really at the end of it here. I've called several times, and was
assured that the order was being processed. The order showed up on the web
site until just recently.

And, now it shows up as cancelled.

I detailed all the communique with the "company(?)", 18 different email
communique and 3 phone calls. All of which confirmed that my
"proof-of-puchases" was received, several indicating it was validated, and
just pending shipping. This was also indicated by the person(s) on the phone.

Now the sites up, phones down - so I figured that it was just a site to
steal credit card information, using Microsoft's good name.

Granted, it took a much longer time than maybe it should have to ship most
of the orders but it certainly is a legitimate company. Aside from
continuing to follow up with your PC manufacuter and/or Moduslink there's
not much else available to you at this point.
