floppy to floppy

I have two floppies that have had information taken off of by myself. I have
enough room to combine the two floppies onto one. I don't have 2 floppy
drives. I use Windows XP SP2. Can this be done?

You don't need 2 floppy drives.
Create a new folder in My Documents
Put a floppy into the drive and from the My Computer window right click the
floppy drive icon and select Open.
Select one file then hold down the Control Key and press A to highlight all
the files
From the windows menu select Edit->Copy to Folder and point to the location
of the new folder you created.
This should copy all the files from the floppy to the folder. Do the same
for the second floppy.

if your intent is to move the contents of 2 floppies onto one then simply
copy the contents from floppy2 to the HD..remove floppy 2..insert floppy1
and copy the data from the HD to the floppy.

Excuse me - WHY on EARTH are you using floppy disks in this day and age? Buy
a USB thumb drive instead - it will last MUCH MUCH longer and is FAR cheaper
per MB of storage!

Some older computers do not have USB ports!

Not to mention that many systems do not have front side usb ports or that
the tower is tucked away in some place that is difficult to get at.

My previous tower was like that, and was a nuisance. I solved the
problem by buying a USB extension cord (on the internet, it cost me $5
US shipped) plugging it into a back port, and running it around to the
front, where I duct-taped it to the case.

Not pretty, but it worked.

The OP is using Windows XP SP2 - I can't imagine ANY computer that can run
XP without a USB port....

You have no imagination and a distorted historical perspective.

Two computers here. One circa 2000 with no USB port running Windows XP
SP2. Second computer bought Setember 2001 with no USB port, which is not
running Windows XP because I decided it would run slow if upgraded from
Windows 98SE. The lack of a USB port was not a factor considered when I
reviewed the future use of the machine.

Not at all. Given that the OP does not have the technical ability to copy
from one floppy to another, I would be VERY surprised if the OP was using a
"legacy" machine as they would obviously not have the capability to install
XP on it.....it is HIGHLY probable that the OP bought a machine running XP
and if so then it is HIGHLY probable that it has at least one USB port....I
have sitting in front of me a Toshiba satellite 310cds which must be at
LEAST ten years old (Windows 95) and THAT has a USB port....so your two
machines I would beg to suggest are in the minority....

All your assumptions can go either way.

They could - but machines that are seven years old or less, (as are yours)
WITHOUT a USB port are very much in the minority, so on balance of
probability, the OP's machine has a USB port...

Be careful when doing this. If 2 files have the same filename on the 2
different floppies, you may end up overwriting the newer version of the file
with an older one.

Create a new folder on your C drive and call it whatever you want. Open
Explorer and move the contents of first the one floppy to your new folder.
Remove the floppy, insert the other, and move that floppy to your new folder
also. Then insert one of the old floppies and move the contents of that
folder to the floppy.

Only if you try to copy the two files to the same folder!

Well, then create two new folders in the C drive, move the contents of one
floppy to one, move contents of the other floppy to the other, and then move
both folders to one floppy.
