Thanks to Neo Heart for telling about F6 during Win2K install to install the
S-ATA driver. The trouble is Install insists on getting the files from A:
and I don't have a working floppy any more!

I have to ask the obvious question: Why don't you replace the floppy drive?
They are cheap..can be purchased for less than $25.

although it would probably be easier to install a floppy drive
there is a workaround

cd burning software often has the ablilty to make a bootable cd
creating a virtual A: drive

you will have to do this on another machine
as it will require a boot floppy for the files

you will need a regular win9x bootfloppy with cd support
and *modified* to load smartdrv
plus it will have to contain your sata drivers

then you will also have to copy your win2k cd to the cd you burn

now you can boot from the cd
and start your installation from within the i386 folder by running winnt

then you will also have a virtual A: drive to load your drivers.

like i said...a lot easier to just add a floppy drive
