Can't Configure Raid On My Win2k Machine.......

M

Mark Mestman

Been pulling out my hair on this problem....trying to install a
Silicon Image PCI Raid controller card, without any luck, as
follows...

Pulled my two ata drives out of the ide ports, plugged them into the
raid card's ports, and fired up the box. Raid Bios came up after
machine bios, and I set up a striped array, no problem. Put Win2k
setup cd in drive, and hit F6 when asked, but Setup asked for the raid
card drivers on floppy, not on cd.

Because the raid drivers were on cd and not floppy, I copied the
driver files to floppy on another machine, and popped the new floppy
in my A-drive. Setup could not find the needed file, however.
Attempted this same sequence several times, then simply skipped the F6
process and continued setup.

Setup reported it could not find any drives in my machine. I went
back and re-copied driver files to floppy, and on and on, with the
same blind alley, setup cannot find the required files.

A friend told me to boot to a command prompt from the Win2k Setup cd,
but I have not figured out how to do that...there seem to be no
options other than hitting F6 (or not) when the computer first starts
to run the Win2k Setup cd.

I'm stuck!!!

Any ideas, anyone????

Sincerely,

Mark
