Floppy Drive Problem

All was well. Full upgrade from ME to XP. Now, after
using the floppy drive, on shutdown of the computer the
system continues to search for a disc in the floppy drive
for an excessive amount of time before deciding it is
empty and continuing shutdown. After this on each restart
and shutdown the machine acts normally until the next
time I use the floppy. Any ideas.

Thanks Pavel, but not it. Acts like it is searching for a
disc and just keeps searching for a while. No disc in
drive. On next shutdown after start. All is well. Drives
me nuts..

Usually this is because an Antivirus program is scanning for a floppy or
CD ROM to make sure there is nothing harmful on it that may wreak havoc
upon reboot. This can also happen if you have other programs that are
supposed to clean up the computer or clear the PageFile. It is also
possible that another software program is searching for something that
used to be on a floppy and this ties up Windows until it is done.
