My floppy drive detects and boots without errors. The problem is when
I put a disk in, it doesn't seem to detect there is a disk in the
drive. When I put the disk in and open the A: drive from My Computer,
it will start searching for the disk but it doesn't detect it. It
acts just like a normal functioning drive except it doesn't detect
disks. I've tried booting up using the Windows XP install CD to see
if it works there and it does the same thing. It appears to work but
not detect the disk. I formatted the disk and installed the needed
files on my other XP computer so it's the right format.
I've tried the drive in another computer and it works perfectly. I
have confirmed that this is the correct cable position. The cables
are firmly secured as well. The drive shows up in device manager as
working properly. This makes me suspect the motherboard. Aside from
this problem I haven't had problems with the board. A faulty I/O for
the floppy on the motherboard maybe? I'm stumped.
The motherboard is a GA-K9NE rev. 2.0 with the latest firmware
installed.
I want to use the floppy to install 3rd party drivers during Windows
XP install. How can I do this without the floppy? My goal is to set
up a RAID 0 to boot and run my operating system on, along with my
program files. I will use another disk for storage.
Any ideas?
