Floppy Drive makes noise after start.

Hi everyone !

After my XP starts (not during the bootup), the floppy drive makes a noisy
beep. Under Windows 98, there had been no such a noise until I upgraded to
XP.

Can anyone help me resolve this.

Thanks a lot.

Any chance that you have a shortcut pointing toward the floppy drive?

Good question Maureen. My feeling is telling me no but I really don't know
and I am not quite sure as to how I can check this.

Many Thanks.

I use a small freeware utility called Empty Temp Folders, which among
other things, checks to see if you have any invalid shortcuts. It's
very easy to accidentally create one to the A: drive.

Unlike Win98, XP has more than one type of shortcut in the Types list
in its Find area. It might take a while, but you can run a search with
*.* as the file name and a:\ as the text to be found.
