Floppy Drive is not accessible

Hey everyone, I have a problem with my floppy drive. I
hope you can help. I just built this computer and
installed Windows 2000 Professional (w/ all four service
packs).

The problem: My floppy drive does not recognize a disk.

It error windows appears and says:

A:\ is not accessible. The request could not be
performed because of an I/O device error.

Do you have any suggestions???? You can email me also,
it is listed above. Thanks.

Are you sure the drive is good, the cables are connected properly, etc?

Does BIOS see the drive?
