Hi...After recently re-installing Windows XP on my Compaq Presario Desktop, I
noticed afterwards that when I go into My Computer to access my hardrives..my
floppy drive icon(Drive A) is no longer in the "Devices with Removable
Storage" area. Can anyone tell me why this has happened and how do I get it
back?

Thanks

Hi DaveM,

Where is the drive located in My Computer?

It was located in the area that's titled "Devices With Removable Storage", as soon as you click on My Computer...but it's no longer there now.

Hi Dave,

Go into Device Manager and locate the Floppy Disk Drive. Check to see if
it is disabled. If disabled, Enable it.

Hi creator...btw, thanks for the reply...I tried going into Device Manager to look for the floppy drive, but didn't see it (after expanding the disk drives ). All I saw was the controller for the floppy drive. Does this mean that the floppy is physically no longer installed?

Hi Dave,

The Floppy disk controllers on my computer is listed in Device Manager
right above the Floppy disk drives, where you would expand Floppy disk
drives to see the Floppy disk drive. If the Standard floppy disk controller
is Disabled, then the Floppy disk drive disappears.

If your Standard floppy disk controller is not disabled, disabled it.
Check My Computer. Close My Computer. Now Enable the Standard floppy disk
controller and see if it redetects your Floppy disk drive. Check My
Computer.
