Floppy drive contents stored in cache

when i open floppy drive in windows explorer it shows the contents of the
last folppy disk in drive while there's no disk in drive! i can open even
files in the last floppy by double clicking on them and programs show the
contest of the files correctly like there still exist the floppy in drive!
the problem is that when i want to shut down or log off NAV nags about there
is floppy in drive and asks to remove it before shut down and the only
things i can do to make to shut down proceed is to end task the NAV which i
feel is a harmful thing for the system security.
what can i do to dismiss this behavior of winXP(disable caching the floppy
content) I miss the error message that says there is no floppy disk in drive
badly ;)

I have seen this happen when a pin was bent on the floppy drive itself..

Turn off the computer, open the computer case, unplug the floppy drive
ribbon cable, check for bent pins, reseat both ends of the cable. Then boot
back into Windows and try again.
