how do you go about copying a file inside a folder to a
floppy in xp home ?

There are many ways. Here's one:

1. In My Computer, open the folder and click on the file. Press
Ctrl-C to copy the file.

2. In My Computer, open the floppy drive. Press Ctrl-V to paste
it.

and another way:
right click on the file and select "send to" and then select floppy drive.
