floppy disk

when i put in a disk,it makes a noise,and then says that
it is not formatted and do i want to format it now,
these are photos,I have downloaded several times
before.It sounds like sumpin is broke

If you read this KB article,
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;309623 you will see
that 3-mode drives are not totally supported by XP.

I had the same problem and downloaded, unzipped and installed this driver
onto my computer http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=110 Scroll down to "VIA
3-Mode Floppy Disk Driver Component" Fixed my problem of XP not reading 98
& 2000 disks.
