Floppy Disk Problem

Hi all,

I have here a sony vaio laptop running windows XP home edition.
The problem is that whenever I place a disk into the floppy drive and try to
access it, I get the following error:

A:\ is not accessible
No ID address mark was found on the floppy disk.

This error occurs when any disk is inserted.
I have read an article on having disks fully formatted which should work,
but I have tested and with the same results.

The driver seems fine (windows default) and there are no visible problems
with the drive itself.
Could anyone suggest anything?

Thanks in advance,

Simon

Hi!Simon!
Check your settings here: Programs>Administrative Tools>Services. In
the right pane set "Shell Hardware Detection"
service to automatic.

Hi,

Thanks for the advise, but the service was already set to Automatic and had
started.
Could you suggest any other option?

Thanks

Simon

check the cables are properly connected; also sometimes if you re-mount

The guy has a laptop. Cables are like NEVER an issue.
