The solution to my problem was the fact that I had
installed "Flashpath" software, (used to read digital
camera memory cards in the floppy drive), in NT4.0. When
I upgrade to XP entries in the registry were trying to
use the Flashpath driver for the floppy and not working.
My computer expert was able to eliminate the entries from
the registry and load the correct floppy driver.
